Keeping up with current trends is a big part of what we, as T-shirt Entrepreneurs do. The problem is that sometimes keeping current means seizing on an event, producing a design and getting it online in a matter of days if not hours. But then what?

Sure people that are finding your well optimized site for existing designs are visiting you but what about getting the word out about your newest, greatest idea? The search engines are not going to get your new design indexed quickly and do you really want to rely on only word of mouth of those coming to your site to pass the word about something that could be out of date within a couple weeks? Ok, maybe you could put an announcement on your site about your new design but you are still not drawing in people looking specifically for that.

That’s where blogging comes in.

I’ve talked before about how when you decide to become a T-shirt Entrepreneur you should be promoting something you are passionate about. No matter whether it is extreme sports, politics, your dog or space aliens there is bound to be something that you have to say about the topic above and beyond what you are putting on your t-shirts.
So start a blog. Post on it daily if not more than daily and make sure that your “feed” and posts are submitted to as many news aggregators as possible like Digg, Google, etc. These sites pick up what you are posting and put it in front of thousands and maybe millions of people typing in search terms about current events and your band new design. Because these sites are constantly refreshing their content you can get an immediate response.

Use the blog to promote your new design but don’t make the blog one big advertisement for your products. Give your readership something that makes them want to come back. And while that “something” may be a good laugh at your newest and roll on the floor laughing design, you should talk about other things that relate to the topic of your site.

If you are selling funny t-shirts, post a joke every day. If you are selling T-shirts promoting the joys of skateboarding, post pictures of you out ripping up the asphalt or doing a new trick you learned.

But whatever you do promote your passion, promote it often, and give readers a reason to come back. You can start a great advertising campaign for free just by telling people why you love what you do.
