Ok, someone is smoking something over at Cafepress today. In their asinine quest to “test” prices in their marketplace instead of relying on those of us that had already done this and optimized our prices, Cafepress has made bumper stickers (10″ x 3″) sell for $3.00 and oval stickers (5″ x 4″) sell for $4.00. Because based on the emails asking me what I think is going on over at Cafepress you do. In the wake of all of the recent, and very substantial changes at Cafepress there are a lot of questions as to what exactly is going on in the offices over there. Why would a company upset so many of the people that made them so successful? Why would they seem to not care that they are flooding over to other PoDs and uploading their same designs there and only increasing CP’s competition? Why announce such major changes with only 30-days notice when such changes can drastically affect revenue for shopkeepers who already have business plans 12-months out that require a certain amount of cash flow each month? If you are running CPShop to sell your wares off site from Cafepress, and honestly who wouldn’t be, and maintain your commissions you should be aware that the recent changes at CP have broken your install and sales through your CPShop will be at the new Marketplace prices AND commission!

There is however a fix to this which appears to be working and was posted by oph3lia on the marty.net message boards. The thread is found here.

Basically append this code:

*||||<input type=hidden name=fromsearch value="yes">||||<input type=hidden name=fromsearch value="no">

to your cpshop.cgi.images file then clear your cache.

Everything should work fine until Marty gets around to releasing an update.

So here I am, tracking the effect of the so-called great changes being made over at Cafepress. You know, where they are going to set the commissions we can make off marketplace sales, ostensively lowering shopkeeper profits and raising their own BUT where they are (they promise) going to make great changes to their market place search algorithms to help out their valued and (previously) successful shopkeepers like myself? Cafepress has dropped the ball again. Had I not been logging into my account differently and viewing a different page than normally, I would never have even noticed that they have thrown a small bone to Cafepress shopkeepers by finally moving their own logo and branding to the bottom of the page!
