Well, December is wrapping up and the Christmas shopping season is for all intents and purposes over. Several months have passed since Cafepress decided to rework its volume bonus structure and then abruptly dumped the news on shopkeepers that marketplace sales would no longer count when calculating it. Cafepress has announced that some changes will be coming to their bulk pricing structure. The BIG change is that dark apparel will FINALLY have bulk discount prices applied to them.

Honestly there is no reason why this did not happen sooner considering that other major POD services like Printfection and Zazzle both offer these discounts on dark apparel. (more…)

I think in the wake of the fiasco involving Cafepress pulling the volume bonus rug out from under their shopkeepers they need to consider doing some things that other companies are either not doing or not doing very well in order to make their service more useful in this day and age and maintain their edge. Adding these features, in my mind would help Cafepress stay on top. And if they aren’t willing to do it then any other company that is could certainly bite into their profit margins by implementing these things. (more…)

I’ve been chatting with some fellow disgruntled Cafepress shopkeepers about what the next shoe to drop over at that site will be.We’ve already had premium shops limited in size, price increases on basic items (strange because other companies are not following suit), and now the retooling of the volume bonus among other things that hurt shopkeepers while bolstering their bottom line.

Again, I don’t disparage Cafepress for wanting to make more money. What I disparage them for is doing it on the backs of those of us that make them successful and giving no significant notice of these changes for the most part. Call us “employees”, call us “business partners”, call us “independent contractors”, I don’t care which. The fact is that whatever you call us, we are Cafepress. (more…)
