Cafepress announced that it is going to start offering yard signs:

scheduled to launch on October 10th, but if you want to get started on designs the following specs may be helpful:* Image size: 21″ x 14″ (150 – 300 dpi, 200 recommended)
  * Double Sided: submit a single image it will be printed on both sides of the sign
  * Product size: 22″ x 15″
  * Frame: ships with collapsible U frame stand that measures 21″ x 33″
  * Base price: $14.99
  * Material: Printed on flexible 10 oz outdoor sign vinyl
  * Features:
  o Weather resistant for up to 2 years
  o Heat Sealed Edges
  o Double sided

Of course they can be used for a lot of other things too, but mostly they are going to be political in nature. The only drawback I see is that price tag. Base price $14.99? That’s a hefty price especially when political candidates and organizations give out signs for free. So if you want someone to plunk down $14.99 + commission for a yard sign that design better be the best design ever.

They also announced larger, 3.5″ buttons and that the paper in there perfect bound books will now be on white, instead of cream, paper.

Aside from letters, one of the most effective marketing campaigns for any business is your postcard printing project, minus all the work associated with developing a promotional letter campaign.

Not only do you lessen your workload with your print materials, your postcard printing project, when mailed in 3 to 8 weeks time, allows your prospective clients to think of you when they need any of your products or service, and contact you to purchase. Your postcard printing materials are definitely hardworking tools in small packages that you can add to make your marketing arsenal a powerhouse. (more…)

I first heard about the “fast nickel/slow dime concept” early on in my investing days. Real estate people use it all the time as they would think about selling. Should I take less money now (fast nickel) or hold out for a higher price later (slow dime)?

I have applied this fast nickel/slow dime concept to all parts of my business life. I am always deciding between designing fast nickel models that generate immediate cash flow, or building long-term, slow nickel relationships and scenarios that have a better chance of paying a much higher return over the long haul.
